Shayok valley located to the east of Nubra valley along the famous Shayok River, is at an altitude of 3500-3800 meter above sea level but lower than the other parts of Lalok. Historically the place was covered with forest trees along the riverbank. The trees were washed away by frequent floods in the region. Prime objective of G3O is to reforest this area.
High percentage of mortality witnessed among plants. But unrelenting efforts by the villagers of Shayok have yielded results and the plantations are now thriving and bearing fruit.
Encouraged by the efforts of His Holiness and also His Holiness declaring the product organic in nature. Shayok has become the first village in Ladakh to achieve the status of a village whose produce is totally ‘Organically produced’.
The impact of Go Green has been most vividly seen at Durbuk. Encouraged by the positive results many of the households initiated plantations of willow and poplar trees.
Durbuk already having a Go Green site demarcated in the village, was a slow starter. After some encouraging words from His Holiness plantation was undertaken at Mord, Durbuk. Since 2021 till mid 2022, around 2500 saplings have been planted.
Inspired by the movement, a large number of families and institutions came forward and joined the plantation drive.
The households of Durbuk, Tangtse, Tharuk, Shachukul, Phulak, Chushul and Maan Pangong planted around 5,000 trees in the first phase of the mission and Mutup Yakmik was honored by His Holiness during the opening ceremony of Second Phase of the mission at Shachukul for the maximum plantation of trees.
Various institutions such as Centralized Residential School Tharuk planted approx. 10,000 trees in their hostel campus. Respectively Shachukul Monastery has planted around 5,000 trees in Tangtse, Chilam and Shachukul Monastery. Most of these are willow, which could be revived in the lower areas of Lalok. In addition, some families also planted fruit trees of apple and apricot in Durbuk and Shayok village.

Second phase of G30 inaugurated by HHDKC on 13th August 2014 at Shachukul Monastery. Accompanying him were, H. E. Togdan Rinpoche, Sh. Nawang Rigzin Jora, (Minister of urban Development and Local Bodies of then Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir), Sh. Rigzin Spalbar, then Chief Executive Councilor of Ladakh (CEC, LAHDC), Sh. Namgyal Durbok (Director of Go Green Go Organic), Dr. Andrew Taber, Executive Director of the Mountain Institute, Washington DC, USA,Dr. Lhakpa Sherpa, member of The Mountain Institute Nepal, Dr. Ghyanshyam Sharma, a member of The Mountain Institute Sikkim. They all expressed their appreciation of the initiatives undertaken by Go green go organic.

The 5th phase of G3O was celebrated at Kherapulu, Kargyam on the eve of 800th year commemoration of Lord Jigstan Sumgon in 2017. The volunteers from Lalok region along with the people of Parma, Kherapulu, Sato and Chibra has planted around 12000 local willow saplings at the site of Lord Jigstan Sumgon Forest. The households of the Kargyam valley also planted around 8900 willow tree saplings over the years.
Recently in 2022 with the support from Ladakh Medical Aids Society headed by Ven. Gyalpo, they also planted around 1700 local willow saplings.
